Is it safe to swim in Lake Hillier?

I was just wondering. Also, why is it pink? Thanks!

The lake was pink when first discovered 200 years ago. Scientists still haven't found the reaon for the pink colour, but the general consensus is that it's a mixture of salt and some sort of bacteria.



There are few reommendations about whether it's safe to swim in or not, simply because it's so remote and very difficult for anyone to get there.

It is not safe to swim in the lake as there is too much salt present in the water. Scientists don't know why it is pink and is still being investigated but they have ruled out algae.
