I am very new at this,. I receieved an Application form that requires me to send a hard copy to the bank. It's says " reply paid" at this address. So does that mean I buy a letter and write down the address and send it. Do I need to buy a stem or anything else or is there anything particular.

If there is "Reply Paid" in front of the address, you are fine to write that on a blank envelope and stick it into your local post box. Make sure you write "REPLY PAID". The original sender pays for the postage.

Remember to always include a "From" on the back in case something happens to it.

If you were not sent a special Reply Paid envelope that says 'No stamp required if mailed in Australia' or something similar up where the stamp would normally be, look at the address you have been given for the reply. If part of it says 'Reply Paid (something)', all you need to do is use that address on a completely blank envelope and put it into an ordinary red mailbox. You don't need a stamp - the receiver will pay the postage.

Sending something reply paid means the company requesting the information is paying the postage. If an envelope wasn't included then just write the address provided on an envelope and stick it in a red post box, no stamp is required.

Why would you need to buy a stem?

Plain English 101

Reply means you are sending back or returning information to a source--with me so far?

In mail terms, Reply Paid, means the envelope you are sending is being paid for by the recipient i.e the person or organisation the letter is addressed to.

So, Reply Paid, is free, drop it in the box and the addressee is responsible for any costs of the delivery.

What it means outside Australia or whether that term is used elsewhere doesnt matter but here in mainland Aussie, reply Paid envelopes cost you zilch, the recipient pays the postage.

You should have been sent, by the bank, an envelope in which to return the document.

On the face of the envelope should be printed: the postal address (of the bank) and reply paid.

This is a reply paid envelope.

Place the completed document in the envelope, seal it and drop it in the nearest post box.

Done, no postage required.

Edit: If the address given includes "reply paid" then copy that exact address onto your envelope and post it (minus postage stamp).
