Hi

I will be traveling to the US from Sydney, Australia in October.

I want to let some friends that live there have a try of Tim Tams as i know they are not available over there.

Thanks

There are several on line shops which sell Tim Tams in the U.S--there are also a few regular stores which sell them. I have taken them over there with-out any issues, I put them into the checked luggage. I have also taken lots of lollies over and have never had them taken, it is a "hit & miss" situation, but you should have no problem--I never declared them---

You can take them with you in your luggage, you don't have to declare them, I didn't when I brought them back to the US from Australia. You don't have to declare them because they're not "fresh" like fruit or meat. Some places here (like World Market) even sell Tim Tams, so I still buy some sometimes, and I live in Iowa in the middle of the country! They are SO delicious!

James, firstly there is no cost in declaring, but even though it is a manufactured product being a cookie, be a good idea to mention it to Customs and Boarder Control officers.

Just to let you know, that I saw Tim Tams and would you believe Vegemite in the International Isle of Cut Price in Platsburg, and I notice they are also available in other places.

There is a place on line called the Aussieshop.com, it's based in San Antonio Texas, where you can even order your frozen meat pies and sausage rolls, ETA BBQ Sauce, Smiths Chips, Allens Sweets, we call them Candy, and loads more of other Aussie goods.

You can take as many Tim Tams as you want. If your entry form asks if you have food products, say yes. You will be asked what the food is and then may have to show it but there is no cost.

The airline staff will give you customs forms before you land in the USA. Read this carefully and always declare what you have. If you don't declare you can get into trouble. If you are honest, they don't mind.

It only costs you if you don't declare what they ask you to declare and then you could get fined.

Packaged foods (still in their packages) seem to be fine - see the other answers. Pack these in your luggage, not hand luggage. I know a friend who had to throw her vegemite away which she had just bought, but if she had packed it in her luggage she would have been fine.
