Question:
Hey Aussies, I have a question for you?

Why do some of us seem to care about these wild accusations of racism all the time? We know we have the best country (well according to the UN, it's the 2nd most highly developed, but whatever we know it's great) :) I just am concerned that some people in our country are losing sight of what's important; what we think about ourselves.

Who cares if some random people in some third world country or even other developed countries think we are 'racist'? And even if we are, so what it's none of their business they can stay home.

So guys, why do you even bother defending yourselves when people say we are racist? Let them think what they want

What concerns me is the criticism coming from within our country aimed at minority ethnic groups.........that only stirs up bigotry & hatred towards people whose only crime is that their ethnic background is obvious because of their skin colour or racial features....

That sort of racial bigotry needs to be attacked by those of us who are proud of our race relations...

It's amazing to see how many theories people seem to have on the subject.

Isn't clear to the entire world that some people have certain ideas and others don't and that this accounts for every country in the world?

No nation is racist, some people are and that's bad enough.

Well community works like this.

We look at each other, we help each other, we advise and sometimes criticise each other.

Sometimes this is not always justified or the best. But that is what a community is.

In the community of nations this is what also happens.

In the end, by listening to other people we become better people.

Racism does exist in Australia though at the same time we are in many ways champions against racism. I hope that the world can learn from our good examples and can see our faults and help us overcome them.

Though also we must maintain our own opinion and while listen we must make up our own mind.

I am proud to be an Australian and i always will be, i love this country. But it offends me when people call our great country racist as it is not true and it is teasing our country! We can not let people say rude things about the best country in the world!

nicely, to be truthful, we gained't help it. you notice, whilst Australia replaced into formally named, based ect. ect. It replaced into started as a colony of england. This replaced into effective, till we necessary some self administration. So then we because of the fact a colony under self govern. Of coarse, then there replaced into worldwide conflict one, the place we signed the Treaty of Versailles, substitute right into a factor of the League of countries, or what's now the U.N. For a less complicated photograph, our shape is almost a shack, It replaced into initially a shack, yet then the owner extra a porches. Then they needed a veranda. And double memories. And after that a 2d veranda. the element i'm getting at is that that is everywhere in the save. in case you hint the spiderweb of consitional coverage, no regulation exceeded because 1988 is incredibly valid, and the government could no longer legally carry collectively tax because then, the two. that's a stressful worldwide with us, yet in short, we nevertheless are because of the fact we could be, lest our rules propose no longer something. awl

Since Australia is very multicultural, that is why some racism occurs. Most of the time, people are generally accepting of other cultures though. It is only now and then that a small minority will come along and act in a 'racist' manner.

Racism exists everywhere - it is no more nor less in Australia. Good people everywhere need to fight it. Britain and the US have just as much, if not more racism than Australia. Argue against it when you identify it and you have done your bit. Talk-back radio and tabloid journalism incites much racism in Australia because many of the shock jocks being reactionary love to attack difference, whether to do with race, religion or national origin. The Cronulla riots were incited by an irresponsible and racist reactionary radio shock jock who shall remain nameless. People with sway influence the gormless. These yobbos radiated a pretty shameful face of Australia to the world - hence the reputation. Get these dickheads off radio and we would be a far better society.

We never professed to be perfect and no country is racism is in every country but at least Australia addresses it and we have great leaders in all races or religion but people have to realise when they come here they fit in with us not the other way round.

The questions are from some girl that seems to have problem with Aussies first she says has experienced racism while visiting in one question then she says she doesn't ever want to come here she is just stirring up trouble.

I feel that some of these people that ask such questions are just looking to cause a stir.

I can't say it doesn't bother me a little though, it's quite annoying coming on to here and the Australian section and seeing a bunch of questions with people labelling Australians in general, as racists and such.

well, the way i see it, Australians don't like being told that we're something we're not :)

and we LIKE the world to hold us in high regard.

and we don't like people who've never been over here judging us over things they've seen on the news or read in a newspaper.

but i agree, we shouldn't care. but i also think that when countries stop caring about other countries opinions, that's when trouble starts.

I completely agree with you.

People in other countries can think what they like in my opinion.

We know it to be absolute BS spread by people envious of our lifestyle.

Many of these questions appear to be coming from the same troll using a number of different accounts.

It seems very coincidental that so many similar questions are flooding the board over such a short period of time.

Well i don't really want to let others go on thinking that we are a racist nation so if some one says we are i do try to correct them, but i dont see the point of getting into a huge argument about it.

You have to understand that Australians are closet Racists and only conduct it in a purely amateur basis. They don't actually understand why they have the feelings about their difference to others which is why they lash out in childish ways. They are all proud of it to there mates but in the international arena they cry about being called racist "Ohh, you're more racist than us." It is common place and widely accepted in mainstream Australian culture to harass any body that makes you feel inadequate or are threatened by. One of the most common modus operandi of the Average Australian Yobbo is to insult someone and when confronted by that persons resorts to "Maaayte, it was only a joke. Can't ya take a joke. Harden up Mayte. Hey Robbo, Gazza, Stevo! This bloke can't take a joke." At this point his mates are co-dependant and start on a group barrage of the person. When children can't express themselves because of their lack of knowledge and experience they throw a tantrum. The Australian tantrum consists of deprecating insults disguised as jokes or harmful banter. Also, like a child that is left to their own devices, they do and say whatever they want and without guidance they will never know what is right or wrong. So it isn't an individual blame for this behaviour happening. Although Australia is a very multicultural society there is very little respect for other cultures. It's funny when you have a third or fourth generation 'Australian' going on about Aborigines in a derogatory way and talking about 'MY' country lol. Just because you drop out of your mother onto this soil does not give anyone the right to call themselves the OWNER of a country. That is earnt and the highest rank you could possibly attain is a CARETAKER of a country. Now my rant may be seen as a gross generalization. To those of you that think that, it may be that it is aimed at you. Others, and there are a lot of you, Australia is not a racist country it just contains a small amount of stoopid dickheads

Well, all I can say to your question is that I am becoming more racist every day. I've had enough of gate crashers & free loaders who, once they are here, demand that we change our ways & customs to suit them.

Enough is enough. Put me on your list of racists.

well we do have a large racist population not as large as that of the us but still somewhat but all counties do were no special case
2009-12-28 02:25:15 UTC
Of course they're racists. They're too afraid to admit it. One regular here said they should "deport all Middle Easterners back to their homeland".
2009-12-28 00:01:32 UTC
Australia is a racist country. It's a shame really, you should be more like your tolerant mother Britain or your peacefully brother, the US.
