What is the capital city of Australia?

I know what it is... this is just a test. So only people who don't live in Australia are allowed to answer.

It's Canberra. The answers started well, but the people who say Sydney are wrong.



Sydney is the largest city, and is the capital of the state of New South Wales, but Canberra is the national capital.



It's a bit like the USA - New York and Los Angeles are larger, but Washington DC is the capital.



Or in Canada - Toronto and Montreal are larger (I think), but Ottawa is the capital.



That's what happens in a federal system.

Canberra. I do not believe it should be as it is a one horse town. Yes it is great for politics, but otherwise NO. Personally I believe that Sydney or Melbourne should be the capital as they are more populated as well as being a known city around the world. I still like the majority of other city's in Australia but don't think Canberra should be the capital.

I am an Aussie & I resent those users who unfairly criticised our capital & made false claims about it.To prove my point I am posting some pictures of Canberra.I have just returned from there last night & it is a beautiful city without the craziness & rush of the larger cities.
