The link is christians from many churches just keep showing up in the finals. Nothing but Gods blessing and good resource and training from hillsong and others. If you have 20,000 in a church theres bound to be talented people in there somewhere in heaps.

Coincidentally some beautiful Christian artists who may have worshipped at Hillsong and loved performing with Hillsong have musical aspirations. I am not following Australian idol this year but am not sure all the Christian contestants are from Hillsong. (not sure).
I am sure the congregation aren't familiar with them and Hillsong didn't send them out with the guarantee of mass votes. I am sure they bless their participation in the show and wish them the best. Yes they may be tempted to vote if they like their performance but I am sure they don't blindly pick up the phone just because of their church affiliation.
Likewise as a Christian I would love to see a Christian shine and ultimately win. I never voted for Guy Sebastian but was mightly pleased to know he'd won. All the same Emily was my second choice in her round.
So no I see a link between the contestants and their church but I honestly believe that doesn't stack the votes.

.... well there shouldn't be one. One is a church & ministry, (sort've, supposedly lol) the other is a pop contest. why someone would make an 'idol' out of a pastor or a worship leader or a band member is beyond me. But i've seen it done in churches. I've seen people maked 'idols' out of ushers and board members. lol. Just as people make 'idols' out of actors and pop stars. Ridiculous if you ask me. Maybe that's because i don't have any 'idols' that i find it weird. idk.
I've heard of hillsong; and of Australian Idol... but i've never seen it. I'm sure it's a lot like American Idol... which i don't watch either....... (except the first few episodes when all the delusional bad singers are on... that's hillarious).

other than that? everybody wants to be somebody. lol that's the link. so i'm sure a lot of church-goers put the wrong emphasis on the talent... and erm, wanne be a pop star LOL.

It merely shows hillsongs point of look after its consumers. It doesnt care if its youngsters get mistreated and ripped off by way of the checklist industry as long because it gets HIllsong greater loose merchandising. Hillsong are not a church, they're a FOR income corporation, dont get sucked in. Oh and waltzing... definite its a popularity, so particular appreciate its bigger and decrease case such as you will desire to have executed with nons call. hypocrite

Just think about hillsong catch-phrase "god wants you to be rich". First of all nothing is wrong with our desire to be rich. What is so disgusting is religions' abuse and exploitation of youngsters' natural desires and fears. You can certainly become rich and donate money to secular charity organisations. You don't need a 'church' for that. Hillsong is just another evangelist church. They are primarily after your money and obedience to 'grow their business'. People like Tanya Levin were out-casted because they 'questioned' (check out Andrew Denton's interviewing her at: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/enoughrope/transcripts/s1992756.htm Australian Idol provided hillsongers a perfect 'marketing' platform. I don't know whether this was a planned strategy or not, nevertheless the whole controversy worked out well for them. Well what do you expect, even some of our prominent political figures endorse them (at the very least finding them 'harmless'). Is this a secular democracy or is this a country run by churches? How pathetic!

There is no specific link, a link, however, is implied by the media because there are so many people from Christian/church congregational backgrounds succeeding to the final stages of the competition.
Here is a link to an Australian Newspaper which I found interesting:
I will never vote on Idol again. As far as i'm concerned the voting is rigged and who can compete against Hillsong, the brainwashing idol collecting cult??????

Many singers in the past have learnt to sing in church.
Many young people go to hill song. And why praising God the creator is the many focus they do choose singers with talent.
Every one has a right to vote so don't under estimate Christian voters.

Quote: "god wants you to be rich" doesn't necessarily mean money and jewels...it can be rich in love and life or whatever you want to be rich in.
