i am moving to adelaide and wanted to know about surfing in the area and if there are any good night spots?

if anyone has an idea on which suberbs are best for a coupple without kids please dont suggest anothe state as for the first two years we have to move to adelaide due to our visas

Forget the sharks for god sake give it a rest (above). Go to Victor Harbour for surf. Great pubs are all over really. Depends what you like in a pub......for a nice change try The lion in North Adelaide, O'Connell street. There are many many pubs in the suburbs, truely you wont be short of a cold drink after a day at the beach. *smiles*

Virtually anywhere south of the city in the suburbs will have you in reach of the surf around Victor Harbour in under an hour or two. Try Christies Beach for the swimming in the gulf, and close to the Victor Harbour road.



As for the sharks, the biggest ones I've seen have been off Sydney - they even put some of the beaches in cages to keep themselves safe from "nature".



Night spots of all different types in the city centre, and scattered through the suburbs.

Almost no surf in summer months on local beaches. In winter months occasionally good surf at Brighton - has the advantage of being able to jump off the jetty and then surf in.



Next surf - mid coast - Southport - river mouth, Seaford - can be small but well shaped waves. Bigger surf further south you go - Middleton, Boomer Beach, Chiton Rocks.



Night spots - Grand Hotel Glenelg, Shennanigans Irish pub - always free entry Marion Shopping Centre, Cavern Club - bands - North Terrace City, Sky City Casino

Adelaide is stuck up a narrowish gulf, and there is no surf on the city beaches. There are lots of surf spots on the south coast, such as Victor Harbour.

Hey not an expert on Adelaide but I would seriously re consider night surfing in the south of Oz as it is prime hunting territory of the Great Whire and early morning and late evening/ night is their feeding time. So go if you want to but I would not risk it.
