Would you say there were vast cultural differences between the east coast and west coast of Australia?

If you think about other large countries that were heavily influenced by colonialism like Canada and the USA you can see huge cultural differences between the east and west. In the USA there is perhaps an even more pronounced difference between the northern and southern states. Those countries share land borders with other countries though so does explain a bit of the difference.

I honestly even find it hard to tell the difference between a west coast or east coast Australian accent, which is quite miraculous considering Sydney and Perth are 3,300km apart.

Do you find any vast cultural differences between the east, west, north or south of Australia?

I was in port macquarie 30 years ago more or less and this guy asked if I was from Balmain by the way I spoke, I'm not but I spent pretty much most of my childhood in and around the suburbs of Balmain.

In recent times I've spoken to a few younger women and I couldn't even tell that they were born here in Australia, because their accents were so foreign to me and they were all white.

I wouldn't know cos I've never been to the W.A. But along the East Coast cities like Brisbane with full of Pacific Islanders,Sydney full of Asians and Melbourne full with Africans they are all completely different. Also never been to S.A and N.T.

Western Australians are generally more crass and materialistic than people in the other States. And hey Little Willie don't diss people you know nothing about. BTW your ramblings are turning into senile mumblings

There are almost no differences across Australia at all in culture or accent. The most noticeably different accent is in Adelaide, where a’s are pronounced as long, rather than the short a’s in the rest of the country. In words such as dance and graph.

I don't find any difference with accents between WA and NSW but people in WA (not being derogatory) are a bit more Country like and a little unrefined compared to NSW.

I've spent a lot of time in WA as my son was working there for many years, his wife and son were born there.

People from QLD are similar to WA and Victorians are in their own little bubble, SA TAS and NT I haven't had much to do with.
